Japan's Culture

There are two types of cultures in Japan. There are those that live out in the country and those that live in the cities.

In the country the Japanese homes are made of clay. Some of the floors are made of dirt and some are made of wood. Water is obtained from wells and toilet facilities are separate from the house. The households are made up of grandparents, grown sons with families, and children. Much of the day is spent tending the fields.

The cities are very modern. They have good transportation and plumbing. Few young couples live with their parents like those in the country do. Japanese eat three meals a day with rice being at almost every meal. Other things they eat are vegetables, fish (often raw), and beef.
