Japan's History

There have been people on Japan since the Stone Age. Through the centuries they had many wars with the Chinese, Koreans, and Mongols. Till 1853, Japan was secluded from the rest of the world. In that year a US ship went to Japan and began to trade. Other countries like Russian and Great Britain followed.

Japan was concerned about showing the world they were a power. At the turn of the century they went to war and won against China and Russia. Then came World War I and World War II. Since, they have been a peaceful country that has become one of the economic leaders of the world.
