Hawaii's
Economy
There are three main sectors that make up the Hawaiian economy. The three
sectors are manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism.
Manufacturing makes up a large part of the economy. There are over 1000 manufacturing plants on the island of Oahu. The food processing industry makes up a large part of the manufacturing economy.
Hawaii annually produces more than 7 million tons of sugar cane, its chief agricultural crop. They also harvest about 600,000 tons of pineapples a year. Cattle are another major part of the agricultural economy.
There is a lot of tourism in Hawaii because of the weather and many parks. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the USS Arizona Memorial are two of the more popular sites.
