HOTEL/MOTEL DISCOUNT AGREEMENT

The University of Cincinnati, on behalf of the Inter-University Council of Ohio Purchasing Group, has issued a new hotel/motel discount agreement through December 31, 2001. This year's agreement includes three major chains, as well as individual hotels in 33 cities. The cities selected were based upon studies at UC of those cities most often visited. The discounts range as high as 56%, and average 29%. In many cases, special rates are offered for personal travel, as well as business.

The contract is published electronically on a special website at UC. The website address is:

http://www.purchasing.uc.edu/sua/

Once you enter the site, there are two pages of interest, Introduction and Index of Locations. First you should enter the Introduction page for information on how to use the agreement and obtain the discounts. Then, move onto the Index of Locations to find listings of cities covered, hotels and motels available, reservation telephone numbers, regular and special rates, AAA ratings, and other information. To access the Index of Locations and specific hotel/motel information requires you to enter a password. Miami's password is stsuadisc.

Included in the contract this year are three chain-wide discounts, Adams Mark Hotels, Starwood (Westin, Sheraton, etc.) and Red Roof Inns. These properties and discounts are not listed under individual cities, but at the top of the index page under "Nationwide and International". You will also notice that many properties contain web-links to individual hotel sites where you can obtain more information about the specific hotels you may be interested in using.

It is important to note that you should use the reservation number listed on the agreement when making reservations. Identify the discount agreement as the "The Faculty Discount Rate for the State Universities of America" to the reservation clerk when making the reservation. Unless specifically listed under each hotel, you should not use the common hotel/motel chain's 800 number reservation services to make reservations under this agreement, as they will not quote the special discount rate.

You may print copies of the agreement off the web if required, but because the website will be updated from time-to-time as hotels and/or rates change, we recommend that you refer to the website prior to making reservations.

It is hoped that you will continue to find this agreement helpful and useful. Should you have any questions, please contact Beverly Persinger, Director of Purchasing and Central Services.
