My primary teaching interest is financial accounting. During the
spring, 2009 I will be teaching
Accountancy 321, Intermediate Financial
Accounting and
Accountancy 422,
Financial Accounting Research.
- Research
My primary research interests lie in the realm of accounting
education. I write about cooperative
learning classroom assessment and
Problem-Based Learning. I also conduct workshops in these two areas.
Barbara Millis and I have recently had our book, Cooperative Learning for
Higher Education Faculty, published by ORYX Press
- Stuff about me:
I am
a Christian. I am active in the
LifePoint Vineyard where
I am involved with small groups. The writings of John Eldredge and the
Ransomed Heart Ministry have
had a major impact on my life.
I have been married for
forty years to Lin, my best friend,
lover and soul mate. We have raised two children, Sigrid and Philip, of whom we are
extremely proud. On August 5, 2002 our first grandchild, Mahlon
Allen Page, was born. Here is a picture of
Mahlon with his family. Our second grandson,
Gavin Philip Cottell was born on July 19, 2003.
Here is a picture of Gavin with his
family. Our first
granddaughter, Elizabeth Diane Page was
born on April 21, 2005. Our third
grandson, Grant Courter Cottell, was born May 3, 2006.
I am an avid gardener. Check out the
Garden Web page. You can search for plants to grow in
all kinds of gardening conditions.
I love dogs.
I currently own the best dog I have ever owned, an Irish Water Spaniel. His name is Ballyhoo's Junah Bagger Vance
(Bagger). We train at the
Hamilton Dog Training Club.
I like to read. Right now I am reacquainting myself with the
Inklings. There are interesting home pages on C. S.
Lewis, J. R.
R. Tolkien and Charles Williams.
The latest release from Tolkien's son titled
The Children of Hurin, is a good read. I loved the
first
Chronicles of Narnia movie but was disappointed by the second one.
I follow the stock market. You can get quotes and the latest
financial news on the Yahoo! Finance Web Page.
You can also set up your own portfolio there.
